Every Rose Has Its Thorn...

Since we moved in, we've been eyeing this massive, overgrown rose bush as something we want to remove. It grows fast and it overtakes a massive chunk of our garden. Plus, local cats love to go back there and poop, and then Togi likes to go back and eat said poop, then Togi gets worms, then we de-worm, and then he goes back and eats cat poop and we're back at square one.

This week, we began another de-worming (good times, btw), and Heather and I decided to finally scale back the beastly rose bush.

Here's the bush...

Side angle for perspective...

I began cutting and hacking so I could get to the center of it all. After about an hour, here's the dent I made...

The first time we trimmed it back, which was about 10 months ago, we found a soccer ball. Today, we found a basketball, football, and three tennis balls. We also uncovered a bird fountain and a light fixture. Both had been overtaken and broken up by the rose bush.

I went power tool crazy...And Heather just went crazy...
Our arms and legs were beyond scratched. They're still burning from the thorns.
We finally finished cutting it down about 6-7 hours after we started. We went from this...

Our final result...
Nothing beats a good day of yard work.
